Biography |
Jennifer Macklem (Canadian, b. 1960) was born in Montreal, Quebec. She has a diploma in painting from the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1984), in Paris, France, and a BFA from the Parsons School of Design, in New York City . She received an MFA from the University of Quebec in 1991. Macklem works in a variety of media, including sculpture, video, installation, painting, drawing, and public art. Macklem lived and worked in Kelowna from 1992 to 2002 and was involved in many aspects of the contemporary arts scene. She was the curator-director of the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art for six years. Macklem's public-art installation Natural Language, a collaboration with the artist Kip Jones, can be found at the Kelowna Downtown Library. She had a solo exhibition at the Kelowna Art Gallery in 2001. Mackelm relocated to New Brunswick to teach at Mount Allison University. She currently teaches at the University of Ottawa in the Faculty of Fine Arts. She has exhibited nationally and internationally. |
