Biography |
Grace M. Willis (née Hudson, British, 1884-1968) was born in Scarborough, England. She travelled throughout Europe and attended Rodeway College. Willis came to Canada in 1907 and settled in Kelowna, BC, in 1909 to live with her brother, Harry Hudson, who is recognized as the first photographer in the Okanagan. In 1913, she married Harry Willis and moved to Sylvan Heights, a farm near Cedar Creek. Willis would travel to Mount Revelstoke National Park and Glacier National Park to paint. She was featured in the 1941 exhibition BC Artists at the Vancouver Art Gallery and had a solo exhibition at the Okanagan Regional Library, Kelowna in 1960. |
