Biography |
Arnold Shives (Canadian, b. 1943) was born in Vancouver, BC. He studied at the University of British Columbia from 1962 to 1964. He received a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute in 1966 and an MA from Stanford University in 1968. Shives works with various media, including mixed media, watercolour and oil painting, intaglio, and relief printmaking. He lives and works in North Vancouver, where he is inspired by his surroundings, the coastal mountains of BC. Shives's work can be found in public art collections across Canada, the United States, and Europe, most notably at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris, and the Tate in London, England. |
