Biography |
Aganetha Dyck (Canadian, 1937-2025) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She studied visual arts and art history at Prince Albert Community College in Saskatchewan in 1972. She returned to Winnipeg in 1976 and studied art history at the University of Winnipeg between 1980 and 1982. Dyck is best known for her collaborative sculptures with live honeybees, a practice she began in 1989. Her works have been exhibited widely. In 1995, the Winnipeg Art Gallery organized a major travelling retrospective of her work. She was part of the group exhibition at the Kelowna Art Gallery entitled Break Away in 2004. Dyck received a Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts in 2007 and was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. She died in Winnipeg at the age of 87. |
